In a world full of processed foods, practical and healthy foods are authentic godsends.
Consumers increasingly demand healthy foods that are tasty and last as long as more processed and less healthy foods.
Peatatoes produced by GoldFood®, the healthy eating product line of GoldNutrition®, has turned this into reality!
A snack that comprises ingredients that would be recognised by our grandparents, as they are natural ingredients;
Extremely functional thanks to the high vegetable protein content which brings several benefits, one of the main ones being satiety;
Even more beneficial because they are produced using methods that avoid frying.
It is common to hear the question, “would my great grandparents recognise these ingredients?” in reference to a time when artificial ingredients simply did not exist. In relation to the Peatatoes, practically all the ingredients are identifiable and natural.
It is very common to use flavour intensifiers such as monosodium glutamate in these kinds of products. This substance can cause a rise in blood pressure and headaches5and is therefore one of the ingredients we avoid and replace with a natural alternative.
The same goes for the preservatives, which is why we added only rosemary extract that has natural antimicrobial.
Low sugar & saturated fat content
Added sugar and saturated fat are two well identified“enemies” in our diet. In the case of saturated fat, we know that its high intake is related to a higher risk of cardiovascular disease because of increased LDL cholesterol levels. We know that some products of this kind have four times more saturated fat than Peatatoes! Peatatoes are a more balanced snackfrom the point of view of the fats present.
With regard to sugar, it is believed that as well as its physiological effect (it may leave individuals more liable to metabolic disorders), it may also affect eating habits and lead to the selection of sweeter foods. This is not a problem in the case of Peatatoes as they contain little more than 1 g of sugar per packet.
The term “Air popped” describes an innovative technique to create crunchy snacks using high temperatures and pressure. This method leads to better conservation, less use of artificial ingredients and less fat.
These characteristics make Peatatoes the ideal snack and an excellent replacement for conventional crisps.
